Margaret Thatcher

For the past week Baroness Margaret Thatcher has laid to rest in the funeral directors round the corner from were I work, with a 24 hour guard.
Today at 2:30 under the escort of six police motor bikes and two police cars, she was taken to Westminster to await her funeral at St. Paul’s. Her coffin covered by the Union flag  and a bouquet of white flowers

Those of us from our office that could, stood outside to pay respect, along with others from the area, to the former Prim Minster of the United Kingdom. As she left there was around of applause - I can only hope out of respect.

With the threat of protests at her state funeral tomorrow (17th April 2013)  like  those on Saturday. The thing that struck me was that the majority seamed to be around my age (30). Which meant most of then were only babes during her term in office.

I personally don’t see how any of them, in fact any one can be pleased that see is dead.
Those who are going around sing ‘the wicked witch is dead’ I think need to think. (I have to admit that one of the songs from Billy Eliot goes through my head).

What decisions she made while she was Prim Minister, can not be changed. Weather we see them as good or bad, may, still be visible today but the same can be said about Churchill and Hitler.

I see it, that the Prim Minister is the face of the government. The one that makes the hard choices. (Could you decided to send 4000 men and women to war to save 8000?)

She will always be remembered as the ‘Iron Lady’ and the woman that brought the ‘winter of discontent’. but the same can be said about all Prim Ministers. They will always be remember for the worse things that happened during their time in power. - Tony Blair, Americans lap dog.

I can remember one of the Spice Girls once saying that Margaret Thatcher was the first Spice Girl, in some ways she was. She was the first female Prim Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the only, -inspiration to girls that we can be just as good as men.

First and foremost she was a wife, and mother and a grandmother, the first and only female Prim Minister this county has had.

respect, and rest in peace Margaret Thatcher. (1925-2013)

World book day

It has been one crazy, crazy day at work. with world book week upon us and last minuet buys happening there's not a lot left. Harry Potter was the stock to go. bit i have to say this year has been quit an eye opener, as there has been more children coming in armed with a book wanting to make up a costume for their favorite character. one boy was inspired to dress up as a character from a poem  Its such a cool thing to see a kid with a book, but still there are to many -for my liking- wanting to dress up as super Mario and sonic the hedgehog and other computer game and film characters.

Not many have asked about fox masks. The quick fix for any mum that just cant be bothered, and when we sell out and we suggest another animal, they look at you confused and blank. "The wind in the Willows" parents please.

I had a conversation with a teacher today who was dressing up as Batman, we decided that we will let of the kids that wanted to dress up as comic book character, because these can and be just as good, at least  the child is reading.

There are so many books that have been made in to films which in their own right are as popular as the book its self  -or in some case maybe more-. The whole idea of reading too some seams alien and obscure -that i find it alien.
reading not only allows you to escape in to some one else world. But in away it lets in into their mind, the way they think. maybe even their inner-desires.

Growing up i can remember most of my costumes  were home made, it was all part of the fun. when you suggest making something to  the parents, the look of fear that comes to their face makes me smile inside, especially if the child is with them and they look excited over the idea of making it.
I think its the little devil in me liking the idea of teasing and tormenting.

So with only a fur days left, parent's are you ready... and No Jack Sparrow is not a good idea, nether is 'where's wally' or 'star wars'.

smile no mater what. sarah. xx

The state cinema

The state cinema in Gray’s, Essex  is a grand 2 listed art deco cinema and theater built in the 1930s. seating 2200, was one of the largest cinemas in Essex. It cost approximately £100,000 to build, which in today’s money an estimated £3 million.
It opened on Monday 5th September 1938 wit the film ‘The Hurrican’. It remained open throw the second world war, eventually closing its doors in 1985.

In 1993 the state was opened once again but this time as Charlestons nightspot, an up market wine bar/night club. The lobby and the upstairs bars had some additional decoration put in place such as neon bar lights and an addional sound system, but the auditorium  remained unchanged..
During this time there were concert evenings heeled in the auditorium. With artists such as Susie Quattro and David Essex performing.
Since then the building has remained untouched. In 2008 plains were submitted to turn part of the building in to shops and flats. But to date (2013) nothing has happened, apart from emergance repair work.

The State cinema has been used for various film work over the past 30 years. Probably the most famous film was the 1988 hit ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ staring Bob Hoskins.(Location mentioned on IMDB)

Then in 1998 it was also used in a promotional video for the movie Godzilla. As well as Jamiroquai’s ‘Deeper underground’ music video.

The darkness within.

There is a darkness with in each of us.
It slowly consumes and destroys.
Like a black hole, it sucks in all light, life and hope.
It’s a disease that’s is patent, it waits and kills slowly. Dissolving all that is good.
Within each and every mind it spins and creates a different web of sadness, anger and evil.
Some are strong and can hold it back.
In a box or behind a door in the back of their mind, where it stays.
Others it consumes them, controls them.
Death, murder, and rape are its whores.
It drains all hope and will, leaving you num from all emotion.
It can appear like lighting, crushing like a slug under a rock.
Or slowly like a rising tide. Suffocating, destroying the will to live.
Its like a peachier waking from death and realising that there is no life after. No light in the dark.
Just blackness and stillness.
So what has he to live for when his faith and belief is shattered and lays at his feet.
Where do you go now. When all you see is dark
Like a dark cloud, it appears darker then night. And  seeps out from behind the door.
Storm clouds of  anger, hate and fear. A thick black fog that blinds.
It may feel like there is nothing but darkness, despair, and hopelessness.
Fear in the dark. Screaming but know one hears.
Alone in your our personal darkened  hell.

But look there…
The dine flicker of candle light.
Within the darkness, within.
